Professor Kamanio Chattopadhyay
Professor Kamanio Chattopadhyay is a Bachelors of Engineering in Metallurgical Engineering from Burdwan University (1971) and M.Sc.(Engg.) and Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University (1973 & 1978 respectively). Appointed faculty member (Lecturer) at Banaras Hindu University in 1975, he later joined Indian Institute of Science in 1983 as an Assistant Professor. He is currently a Honorary Professor at the Materials Engineering Department.

Khushbu Dash Khushbu Dash has obtained her Ph.D in Metallurgical and Materials engineering from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela in 2014. She was associated with Department of Physics of Materials, Charles University, Prague for six months in 2014 followed by which she was at Department of Materials, University of Oxford as a post-doctoral researcher for a year. She joined the group as a Research Associate in November 2015

Sukla Mondal Sukla completed her Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgical Engineering from Jadavpur University in year 2004 followed by a short stint as a Junior Research Fellow at National Metallurgical Laboratory Jamshedpur from 2005 to 2006. Subsequently she obtained a M.Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from National Institute of Technology Durgapur. Before joining the institute for a PhD in January 2009, she was a project assistant at the department for a short period from July 2008 to December 2008. She completed her PhD in November 2015. Currently she is a research associate in the group.
Dhanalakshmi PalanisamyDhanalakshmi completed her M.Tech in Nanotechnology from Anna University of Technology, Tamilnadu in year 2010 followed by which she joined the institute for a Ph.D. She completed in February 2016.
Saurabh Dixit Saurabh completed his Bachelor of Technology in Materials Science and Engineering from C.S.J.M. University Kanpur in year 2009. He was also a Junior Research Fellow at Bhabha Atomic Research Center from 2009 to 2010. Subsequently he joined the institute for a Ph.D which he completed in March 2016.
Phd Students
Vilas Gunjal Vilas completed his Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from College of Engineering Pune in year 2007. Before joining the institute for a PhD in August 2008, he was with ESSAR Steel Ltd from July 2007 to July 2008.
Suman Sarkar
Suman completed his Bachelor of Technology in Ceramic Technology from Calcutta University in 2004. Subsequently he was with TATA Ceramics for a short period followed by a stint at Development Alternatives Ltd. He was also a Research Intern at the Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata (CGCRI). He completed his M.Sc.(Engg.) from the department in 2009 followed by which he joined the institute for a Ph.D.
Abhishek Sharma Abhishek completed his Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in April 2011 from National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur. Subsequently he joined the institute for a Ph.D in August 2011.
Sherine Alex Sherine completed her Bachelor of Sciences in Chemistry in March 2005. Subsequently she did M.Sc. in Chemistry in June 2007 followed by a M.Tech in Nano Medical Science in June 2010. She was at Advanced Research Institute for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials, Hyderabad (ARCI Hyderabad) from September 2010 to July 2011 as a Senior ARCI Fellow. In August 2011, she joined the institute for a Ph.D.
Shalini Roy Koneru Shalini completed her Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in April 2011 from National Institute of Technology Warangal. Subsequently he joined the institute for a M.E. in August 2011. In July 2012, she converted to a Ph.D. student.
Sireesha P. Sireesha completed her Bachelor of Sciences (Hons) in Physics from Satya Sai University, Andhra Pradesh followed by a Master of Sciences in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. She joined the institute for a Ph.D. in August 2012.
Prafull PandeyPrafull completed his Bachelors of Technology in Metallurgical Engineering from National Institute of Technology Raipur in the year 2010. He joined the institute for a Master of Engineering, in the same year and graduated in July 2012. He joined the institue for PhD in August 2013.
E. HemaprabhaHema completed her Bachelors degree in Materials Science and Engineering in April 2013 from Anna University, Guindy Campus. Subsequently she joined the institute for a Ph.D. in the Interdisciplinary Center for Energy Research (ICER).

Shriparna Mukherjee Shriparna completed her Master of Science in Applied Physics from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in 2013. Subsequently she joined the institute for a Ph.D. in August 2014.
Advaith S
Advaith earned his B.Tech degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati in June 2013. He joined the Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research (ICER) at IISc Bangalore as a PhD student in August 2014. Prior to that, he was employed as a Graduate Engineering Trainee at Hero MotoCorp Ltd.
Aramanda Shanmukha KiranKiran completed Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgical Engineering from Andhra University in April 2013. He completed his Master of Technology in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) in May 2015 after which he joined the institute for a Ph.D.
Mahander Pratap SinghMahander completed his Bachelors of Engineering in Metallurgical Engineering from PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh in year 2011. Following that, he had a year's stint in India Yamaha Motors as a Process Auditor. Subsequently he joined the institute for the M.E. programme in the department. In August 2015, he joined the institute for a Ph.D. in the Interdisciplinary Center for Energy Research (ICER).
