We are investigating the effects of thermo-electro-mechanical excursions, such as mechanical and thermal stresses, temperature, electric field, magnetic field, etc.,
on the integrity of structures at various length scales. The systems of our interest ranges from small volume/ length-scale structures, such as high temperature coatings,
thin film systems, microelectronic packages, CNT and graphene foams, etc., to standard bulk structures.
Concurrently, we are also studying electromigration in both solid and liquid metals, particularly to harness its prowess of patterning at micro- and nano-scales.
We are primarily experimentalists; however, we regularly use finite element analysis and crystal plasticity to understand the experimental results.
By infusing people from different backgrounds, we are striving to form an interdisciplinary research program at IISc, Bangalore.
