Short Bio of Speaker:

Professor Eiji Abe is a distinguished materials scientist and Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Tokyo. He received his Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate in Materials Science from Tohoku University and began his career at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), where he rose to Senior Researcher. He has also served as a Visiting Researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Since 2016, he has been a Professor at the University of Tokyo and previously served as Head of the Department. Professor Abe is internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to electron microscopy, crystallography, and phase transformations in alloys, with seminal work on quasicrystals, magnesium and aluminium alloys, rare-earth compounds, and high-entropy materials. His research combines advanced TEM/STEM, X-ray and electron diffraction, and first-principles simulations. A recipient of numerous prestigious awards, he has also held major editorial and leadership roles in leading scientific societies and journals.
