Shyam completed his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from University of Burdwan in 2006 followed by a Masters of Science in Chemistry from Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, West Bengal. He joined the institute for a PhD in 2008. He defended his thesis on February 2014.

 

His thesis is titled Synthesis and transformation of AuCu intermetallic nanoparticles under the joint guidance of Prof. Chattopadhyay and Prof. S. Sampath (Department of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science).
