Femi did his Bachelor of Sciences in Physics from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria in 2008 followed by
M.Sc in Material Science from African University of Science and Technology, Abuja Nigeria in 2010. He joined the institute for a Ph.D. in August 2010. He belongs to the first batch of international students being administered the International Student Fellowship by the institute. He completed his PhD in November 2015.
His thesis was titled Microstructure design and interfacial effect on thermoelectric properties of Bi-Sb-Te ternary systemunder the joint guidance of Prof. Chattopadhyay and Prof. N. Ravishankar (Materials Research Center, Indian Institute of Science).
