Chitra completed her B.Sc. in Physics in year 1998 from S.D.N.B. Vaishnav College for Women, Chrompet, Chennai. Subsequently she did M.Sc. in Physics in year 2000 from Meenakshi College, Kodambakkam, Chennai (Thesis topic: Single crystal growth by Czhrolski technique) followed by a M.Phil (Material science) from Deparment of Nuclear Physics, University of Madras, Chennai in year 2001 (Thesis topic: Microstructural aspects of Ti-V-Nb alloy). She joined the institute for a Ph.D. in 2003.

 

She worked on Structural evolution of Ag based alloy under mechanical milling. A short description of her work is given below.
