Chandrasekhar completed his Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from National Institute of Technology Durgapur in year 2008. Before joining the institute for a PhD in 2009, he was a Management Trainee with MECON Limited from 2008 to 2009. He completed his PhD in November 2014.
His thesis was titled Study of Microstructural, Mechanical and Oxidation Behaviour of Ni-Al-Zr alloys. This work was carried out under the joint guidance of Prof. Chattopadhyay and Prof. Dipankar Banerjee, Department of Materials Engineering, IISc.
