Chandan completed his Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical Engineering from Jadavpur University in 1998. Subsequently he did his Master of Engineering in Materials Engineering from IISc in 2000. He joined the institute as an external Ph.D. student in 2006. Currently he is Scientist D at Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DRDO, Hyderabad). He completed hus Ph.D. in August 2013.

 

His thesis is titled "Evolution of Texture and its Correlation with Microstructure and Mechanical Property Anisotropy in AA7010 aluminium alloy". He did his Ph.D. under the joint guidance of Prof. Chattopadhyay and Dr. A. K. Mukhopadhyay (Structure and Failure Analysis Group, DMRL) .
