For the past three years, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has been organising Open Day in which students from different schools and colleges are invited to attend the exhibitions/demonstration/seminars/games organised at various centres/departments across the institute. Department of Materials engineering has been playing a very active role in this regards. The exhibition/demos on display in the department highlight the crucial role of materials and the properties in enabling technological breakthrough. The exhibition and the live demonstrations will help to make understand the young and curious minds about the close relationship between properties of materials and the applications in day-to-day life, as well as, in advanced engineering applications. It is our hope that this technological fair would ignite a inquisitive spark in the young minds towards a carrier in scientific research.
