Message from Faculty Coordinators and Conveners:

Warm welcome to the 33rd edition of the Annual Students’ Symposium of the Department of Materials Engineering in IISc. This symposium has been continuing for more than three decades. This groundbreaking initiative was taken by Gouthama (currently professor at IIT Kanpur) in 1987-88 and every year the students of the department are continuing that legacy. This year we and our team are organizing this event to continue this tradition. The primary motive behind this event has been to create a platform for the students of the department to share and enhance their knowledge by presenting their research amongst themselves as well as showcase the ongoing research of the department to others.

We have a robust program planned this year, with 5 talks from invited speakers, nearly 20 oral presentations and several poster presentations by students of the department.  Since the total materials engineering will revolve around microstructures, the students will also exhibit their beautiful micrographs. So, we expect to have a packed lecture theatre.

It gives us a great pleasure to be a part of the organizing team and we hope that you will have a productive and fun-filled time at this annual students’ symposium.

The great success of this symposium will depend upon all your valuable participation and contribution to this enthusiasm and enrich discussion around the various field of research work. So, kindly mark the 9th and 10th of January 2020 in your schedule and join us to make this event a great success. We all are looking forward to seeing all of you at this 33rd edition of symposium.
