About a week ago, January 15th, to be precise, we were treated to a surprise visit from the 1959 batch of DIISc alumni returning to their alma mater for a 50th year reunion. For those of you who are wondering what DIISc is, well, that’s what people got before the BE started in 1961. I must thank Dr. Misra for getting a large proportion of his batch mates together for this wonderful occasion. As is natural for a group of people who left even before someone as venerable as Prof. Abraham came to the Institute, the riveting stories they had to tell about getting employment, building a career and migrating in the early 60s took us to a different era and certainly a department and Institute that few of us would recognise. And the wives (yes, three spouses also made it to the reunion) filled in details that our alumni left out. That evening, we were joined by many of our retired faculty members and other alumni at an enjoyable dinner where well lubricated reminiscences continued till late into the night. You can see photographs of this get-together by clicking on the links.Click here Now that they have shown the way, I invite other batches to do likewise. We haven’t had even a silver re-union yet. Batch of 1960 and 1985, are you reading this?
